There Are No Straight Lines In Nature © 1996, aidan nolan
(Late night, street light, cat fight, sleep tight)
She, had a line she was walking,
(Relay, don’t play, hearsay, passé)
I, had a line of my own,
(Don’t shout, move out, no doubt, devout)
She liked to hear herself talking,
(Improve, good move, so soothe, slow groove)
I, couldn’t throw the first stone,
(Succeed, we bleed, no greed, no need)
She, said “I live for the moment,”
(Safe bet, go get, big debt, regret)
I, said she lived for the past,
(Make haste, sweet face, no taste, erased)
She said she wanted to own it,
(My my, cheap buy, must fly, so cry)
I, said “It don’t seem to last,”
(New pin, new sin, you win, on chin)
There are no straight lines in nature.
(Behave, get paid, enslave, degrade)
She’s, always dreaming of places,
(Look pure, big sewer, endure, manure)
Where, she can run to and hide,
(Move up, corrupt, give up, erupt)
I’m, always changing the faces,
(Tower, sour, hour, power)
Who, I am growing inside,
(Icon, hold on, all gone, anon)
There are no straight lines in nature.
(Big break, heartache, all fake, mistake)
She, thinks she’s not that kind of girl,
She, couldn’t be that kind of girl,
Never there, never daring, never share, never caring,
She’s, not that girl.
She, simply never imagined,
(Alive, deep dive, survive, archive)
I was the opposite kind,
(Pure folk, don’t smoke, won’t croak, big joke)
She wasn’t sweet or old-fashioned,
(New dress, confess, recess, God bless)
I wasn’t out of my mind.
(Old news, nice views, short fuse, you lose)
There are no straight lines in nature,
(Get straight, don’t wait, innate, checkmate)
