Walk Into The Water

Although I wrote the song in the late 1990’s it is about a suicide incident in my life that occurred in the late 1960's or early '70's.  It was something I hadn't thought about in many years until I was mucking about with a bass line that sounded very dramatic. It made me think how irresistibly dramatic things can seem at one point in time, only to be overwhelmingly mundane sometime thereafter.

(What if) What if a man, what if a man can’t see?
(What does) What does a man, what does a man believe?
Where did the time go? Where did the man go?
What made the man go to sea?
What made him walk into the water?

(Who thought) Who thought about it, who thought about it then?
(Who cared) Who cared about it, who cared about it when?
Why did the man go?  Why did they all know?
Who made the man go to sea?
Who made him walk into the water?

How did the life go? How did the man know?
When did the man go to sea?
When did he walk into the water?
Walk into the water

(What if) What if a man, what if a man despairs?
(Who thinks) Who thinks a man, who thinks a man repairs?
Where is the reason?  When is the season?
How did the man go to sea?
Why did he walk into the water?
Why did he walk into the water?
Why did he walk into the water?

Walk into the water
Walk into the water
Walk into the water
Walk into the water
